Will the City of Mississauga ban fireworks next year?

The City of Mississauga is preparing to vote this Wednesday on a firework ban that begins January second.

City council proposed a review of the firework bylaws during May.

Residents who celebrate Diwali have been outspoken about their opinions at public meetings.

More than 20 community members spoke against the controversial ban causing the vote to be pushed back.

Rajni Thakur practices Hinduism and has been celebrating Diwali in Canada for five years.

I asked her how she felt about the council's recommendation.

Navjot Kaur who is a Sikh resident in Mississauga mentioned that Canada Day fireworks do not get the same complaints as Diwali.

In just 10 days from now the skies of Mississauga will be glowing as the annual Festival of Lights celebrations conclude.

But the question of what next year will look like still stands.
